Multiple newspapers in Holland suggest that most of the grown cannabis in this country is meant for export purposes. Not one single piece of evidence has even been brought to light for these false claims. Yet, the Dutch people believe these nonsense and they are giving the government the power to act against people growning their own. This is a big problem for society, and one that won’t be fixed any time soon.
Debunking the export purposes in combination with cannabis is easy. Cultivation is everywhere! People are more and more growing their own, most of it for personal use. Some grow to share it with their friends and familiy and some people grow it in order to use it as a medicine. It would be a major win for everybody in the cannabis branch if the export lie would be dismissed as soon as possible.
As you can imagine, governments are doing everything they can to scare people into believing that cannabis is very dangerous for society and it ruins lives, while we all know now that cannabis is probably one of the safest drug you can consume. Not one single person has ever died of an cannabis overdose. Here in The Netherlands, the people who want to legalize the green plant, are in a heavy battle with the government. There is a lot at stake. Just opening up the market is probably not going to happen. Corruption is a big thing, and as you already guessed it, corruption is a big time problem here in The Netherlands.
We need to put a stop to this insane situation immediately. Yes, it is legal to buy cannabis in The Netherlands, where you can walk into any coffeeshop and buy up to 5 grams a day. But it remains unclear how the cannabis makes it into these coffeeshops, because the production and distribution of cannabis is still illegal here. How can you explain that to someone? We can’t! I tried many times, telling my friends from abroad about the situation, and they don’t understand it. Yet, this is the same law that has been active in Holland for over 50 years.
Will this chaos end soon? Probably not. We will get a government test with legally grown cannabis by companies. Slowly they are trying to put the right people into place so they can control the market. But the market is smart, and they won’t let people in a suit sell them cannabis for over 20 euro’s per gram. According to statistics, the price of cannabis will reach the 30 euro per gram mark easily within this decade. So what’s the solution to this?
Well, we will see a lot more street dealing again, just like in the 70’s. People will stretch out to the black market again, and in no way am I saying that’s a bad thing. Right now, the street dealers bring their cannabis to our famous coffeeshops. If they are going to be replaced by suits, then they will simply find other ways to sell their cannabis. Most coffeeshops do not like the idea of companies selling them their cannabis. None of the coffeeshops in Amsterdam will participate in these government testing with legal cannabis. The test by the way has everything in it to fail. That is simply because the Dutch government ignores the people who fought the most to keep the cannabis culture alive.
We need to get a couple of things straight. People think that Europe is a very free and open continent, where people really can make a difference. The opposite is true. The European Union is strong as a whole, but single countries (like Holland) lost all their power not that they are part of a group. We actually live in a election dictatorship. Every 4 years we get to vote to choose our new leader, but they all make the same mistakes. They only help their own people, and they are not open minded to most groups in the country.
